Requirements to Complete a Course

To submit a Sophia course as complete, learners must accomplish each of the following:

• Complete each Challenge by attempting all questions.
• Complete each Milestone exam, if applicable.
• Complete each Touchstone assignment and have received a score, if applicable.
• Achieve a total average score of 70% or higher across all Challenges, Milestones and Touchstones.
• Complete the Final Milestone*, if applicable.

*NOTE: The Final Milestone does contribute to the overall course score.

Technical Requirements for Courses

The following are technical needs that may be required to complete the average Sophia Learning course:

1. Stable internet connection
2. Device capable of recording videos and audio, as well as taking photos.

     • Some Touchstones require students to submit video/audio recordings.
     • Taking photos may be required to verify identity. (See: Jumio Verification)
3. Word processing software
   •  
     • If learners do not have access to Microsoft Word, then Google Docs is recommended. Docs is widely accessible and free to use.
4. Compatible web browser

      • Sophia is optimized for Google Chrome, Safari and Edge. These browsers are highly recommended when accessing Sophia.

NOTE: A desktop or laptop computer is required if taking a lab-based course (e.g., Introduction to Chemistry Lab). Mobile devices and tablets are not compatible for use with lab-based courses.
